Ireland, also called the Emerald Isle, is considered as a land both beautiful and mysterious. It is bordered by the Irish Sea on the East and the North Atlantic Ocean on the west. Ireland has an oceanic climate, which occasionally has some extremes of heat and cold. That, with frequent rainfall, has given the island very lush greenery which coined the term “Emerald Isle”.

1. Cliffs of Moher

The Cliffs of Moher is a beautiful attraction which you should definitely go to as you visit Western Ireland. You can take in the beauty of the cliffs that overlook the spectacular Atlantic Ocean. The Cliffs of Moher has a length of eight kilometers and peaks at 214 meters. You can also drop by and learn all about the cliffs at Atlantic Edge, which is the interpretive center located at the Cliffs of Moher Visitor Experience.

2. Killarney and The Ring of Kerry

This attraction is located in County Kerry and is found in southwestern Ireland. County Kerry is renowned for its breathtaking beauty, with lush green landscapes, dramatic skies, babbling rivers and lakes, colorful and attractive villages and towns and the friendly people. You can also find Killarney and The Ring of Kerry that attracts a lot of local and foreign tourists.

3. Bunratty Castle and Folk Park

Located in County Clare, you can go back in the Victorian times as you visit the Bunratty Castle and Folk Park. They feature an amazing recreation of an Irish village during the Victorian times. There are medieval banquets available during evenings at the castle.

4. Sligo Town

Sligo Town is originally a small and quiet coastal town that went through a lot of changes because of the redevelopment during the 1990s. Today, it offers a lot of shopping, dining and entertainment establishments.

5. The Burren

Literally translated, The Burren means “a rocky place”. Every year, a lot of visitors go to this place, especially archaeologists, geologists and botanists, not to mention those tourists who are looking to appreciate this unique and beautiful limestone plateau. 6. Brú na Boinne

Located in County Meath, Brú na Boinne is one of the largest and one of the most important prehistoric megalithic sites found in Europe. At Brú na Boinne, you can find standing stones, some Neolithic chamber tombs, along with other prehistoric enclosures which date back to the 32nd Century BC. You can have access to Brú na Boinne through a guided tour which start at The Brú na Boinne Visitor Centre.

7. Hill of Tara – County Meath

The Hill of Tara means the “Hill of Kings”. It is an archaeological complex which has several ancient monuments. According to tradition, it was also the seat of Ireland’s High Kings. If you are planning a trip to Ireland, visiting the Hill of Tara should be on your schedule. You can take in the majestic beauty of the Iron Age Hill Top enclosure, The Stone of Destiny, some Neolithic passage tombs and a lot more.

8. Dublin City

9. The Giants Causeway

10. Glendalough

Glendalough got its name from “Gleann da locha” which is Irish for “Glen of the two lakes”. It is located in the Wicklow Mountains National Park, Glendalough and is one of the most popular and most visited places in Ireland, receiving more than a million visitors every year.
It has an amazing Monastic Site, lush green landscapes and glistening lakes and mountains, which all serve as a wonderful backdrop for the many activities that can be done here.
